Our Approach
“I like to find out how a building started, and how it developed through different periods. Then I divide it down the lines that already exist.”
Michael has instilled this in the company’s ethos and approach to all projects, as Heritage buildings can never be considered to be a blank canvass.
Respecting the history of each property as we find it, wherever possible retaining as the focal point the principal rooms without introducing physical separation or division, we seek to seamlessly introduce a modern high specification in the period setting.
A sympathetic approach respecting the original design intent is the bedrock to a successful outcome of the creation of contemporary living in an historic setting. We ensure that the buildings themselves after conversion and restoration still retain their original integrity.
The judges findings of one of our recent projects in their written commentary to the grant of a Gold Award:
“Crucial to its success has been the high level of specification and craftsmanship, the use of appropriate materials and the dedication to achieving sympathetic detailing. Every effort has been made to work with and retain original fabric and, despite the significant interventions required, it is still possible to read the building at the heart of this exemplary scheme.” What House Awards 2013.
Providing these properties with a viable future, utilising inspirational design, knowledge of architectural history and a combination of modern building technology and traditional craftsmanship, to create unique living environments.
The appreciation and delight of the many purchasers of these exceptional homes is testament to the organisation’s heritage philosophy and ability to provide a lasting legacy.
